Sustainability is becoming as important as ever, and at Independent Hotel show London, we are committed to responsible environmental operations and event planning and as such commit to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and waste at the event. We are delighted to be working with the venue, contractors, and wonderful partners such as Royal Trinity Hospice, as part of our journey to becoming more eco-conscious.

Should exhibitors and visitors bring their own re-useable cups to purchase a hot drink, they will receive a discount at all of Olympia's catering outlets. In addition, water bottle refills are readily available from water fountains and all catering outlets free of charge.

Royal Trinity Hospice

Independent Hotel Show has introduced a donation programme for exhibitors and has partnered with Royal Trinity Hospice. Royal Trinity Hospice is the local hospice for southwest and central London, and the oldest hospice in the UK. Their expert teams provide specialist palliative and end of life care for their patients from the moment of their diagnosis until the end of their life, and afterwards they are there for those close to them, for as long as they’re needed. This year, they need to raise over £11 million to deliver their outstanding care and supplement the funds they receive from the NHS. They rely on donations and their charity shops to raise the funds they need every year to continue our services. Exhibitors are invited to hand in unwanted items, which meet the criteria detailed here. These will then be distributed among their shops and if they are not suitable to sell, they will work with TRUST recycling merchants.

Olympia London

Olympia London has a sustainability working group called The Grand Plan. To understand more about what the group do please click here. Currently, they are planning their roadmap to Net Zero by 2050 as a participant of the Net Zero Carbon Events initiative. Olympia London works closely with its organisers by providing a post-event sustainability report which shows opportunities for improvement year-on-year. London Olympia also partners with located charities such as the Barons Court Project

Sustainability & Waste Policy and Environmental Sustainability Policy

We produced a Sustainability & Waste Policy which is included in the online Exhibitor Zone and circulated with exhibitors more than 3 months from the event to allow them to plan accordingly. Our Environmental Sustainability Policy also outlines Montgomery Group's commitment to reducing Greenhouse Gas emissions and reducing our waste footprint, both within our organisation, and in the events we deliver.

ESG Hub

This year we have the ESG Hub which is an area with sustainable businesses and experts to help hoteliers learn and discover new services to make their hotel more sustainable.

Sustainable stand builds

We use modular shell scheme which has a life span of 15+ years, meaning they can be reused, and all aisle and shell scheme carpet is recycled within the UK. Also, this year, exhibitors are having to request 24hr power so that we can turn off unnecessary power (previously we have kept all power throughout). Plus, we only use LED lighting to reduce consumption and all lighting is switched off once the hall is closed.

Trace

We are committed to mapping and reducing our carbon footprint across all Montgomery Shows. We are working with TRACE by isla, a collaborative workspace to estimate, measure and report the carbon impact our events. For more information please click here
