Hotel management platform Mews on monetising unused hotel spaces and levelling the playing field with hospitality tech
The Independent Hotel Show chats to Bronze Sponsor Mews to learn more about the company's industry-leading hospitality management platform, AI trends, and how hoteliers can monetise additional spaces in their hotels.
Mews is an industry-leading hospitality platform. Powering over 5,500 customers across more than 85 countries (the majority of whom are independent hoteliers), Mews Hospitality Cloud is designed to streamline operations for modern hoteliers, transform the guest experience and create more profitable businesses.
What will Mews be promoting at this year’s Independent Hotel Show?

Why is Mews eager to meet with independent hoteliers?
It’s our mission to create remarkable experiences for guests and hotel staff alike. Mews was founded for hoteliers, by hoteliers, so we understand the unique needs and challenges of the sector.
The right technology levels the playing field with big chains, boosting your reach and optimising your rates. It streamlines day-to-day operations by empowering you to work more efficiently. And it eases the pressure on hiring, creating a more engaged and dynamic workforce.
We know how to maximise your competitive advantage. We know how to lower costs and raise revenue. We'd love to show you how we do it.
What are the benefits of having a property management system?
Cloud-native property management systems give hotels the ability to run more efficiently, maximise revenue and scale and grow your business. It also provides unrivalled connectivity, with a marketplace of hospitality software that’s easy to integrate with no extra connection costs.
Leading IT market research and advisory firm IDC recently talked to Mews customers of all sizes – from independent hotels to chains of 15 properties - to uncover the real-world benefit of Mews and Mews Payments. Their findings about the value of Mews, as documented in a white paper sponsored by Mews, speak for themselves.
- A 290% three-year ROI
- 24% more efficient front-desk staff
- 6.8% ADR growth
- An average of £234,780 generated in additional annual net revenue from up-selling, cross-selling and rate configuration benefits
What are some trends you’ve been seeing in the hotel world this year?
There are two trends that keep coming up in conversations with hoteliers: AI and rethinking hotel spaces.
Regarding AI, hoteliers are finally seeing its practical application. More guests are using generative AI like ChatGPT to ask questions about where to stay, which makes it even more important for hoteliers to a) attain lots of great reviews and b) ensure their website is up to date so that AI tools can pick out relevant information for potential guests.
AI is also making its way into the technology that hoteliers use. Mews is introducing a new smart search feature that means searching Mews will become more accurate, twice as fast and more powerful than ever before. It is also being used to empower hoteliers to provide more personalised welcomes and stays, as well as in areas like chatbots and dynamic pricing.
Hoteliers are also changing their mindset when it comes to monetizing additional spaces. Spurred on by changing guest behavior and hybrid travel, many brands are rethinking their properties to sell more spaces and experiences beyond rooms. This also diversifies revenue, which makes for a stronger, more resilient business.
Some of the most common spaces now sold through Mews are parking spots, meeting rooms and co-working spaces, but we’ve seen hoteliers managing everything from karaoke rooms to wedding reservations through Mews.
7.5% of hotel revenue at Mews-powered properties now comes from services sold through Mews Spaces – in other words, through services other than overnight stays. The number of hotels using this functionality has tripled in the last year, with over one in four Mews properties offering additional bookable spaces. Over half a million bookings have been made by guests, from bike rentals to meeting spaces.
Many Mews-powered properties now generate more than €100,000+ through parking reservations each year, all managed and processed within the same platform as their rooms.
