Dutch artist Joris Kuipers to display his 'green' thread of art applications for boutique hotels for the first time in the UK

Dutch artist Joris Kuipers to display his 'green' thread of art applications for boutique hotels for the first time in the UK

TRANSFORMING SPACES, USING NATURE'S ABUNDANCE.

‘My artwork is intended to have a positive effect on the guests' mood. Depending on the hotelier's needs and the space, the effect can range from calming and relaxing to stimulating and engaging.’

At Independent Hotel Show London, Kuipers presents a collection of artworks linked by a floral theme. At the heart of his presentation is a sculptural statement piece for entrances and lobbies. This will be followed by 2D artworks for hotel corridors and rooms. And he will show will gift (shop) items in the same line as the artworks.

In recent years, Kuipers has mainly worked in the hospitality industry for hotels and cruise ships. Here he has specialised in thinking along with the client.  His art is tailored in consultation with the client, based on the rooms, the colours of the interior and the story it is intended to tell.

Does the Hotel Art Matter?

‘For hotels, the value and significance of art are far beyond a couple of nice nice frames in the rooms and lobby. The leaders of the hospitality industry know that when marketing a unique and luxury experience, the best way to establish the brand value is to offer emblematic and contemporary experiences.’

‘Renowned Dutch artist Kuipers created a site-specific installation for the Palazzo dei Giureconsulti, next to the Duomo. Two grand floral sculptures adorned the palace walls. He seamlessly intertwined architecture and art into a harmonious blend.’

About his work:

His art is recognisable through the use of two-dimensional laser-cut shapes, which are mounted as a layered assembly. The works can be arranged on a wall, hung from the ceiling or executed as freestanding sculptures.

His work is inspired by plants, flowers, clouds and crystalline exuberance. This is reflected in both the contours of his forms and the painted surfaces. Painting techniques based on 'faux peinture' and working in multiple layers of paint create surfaces rich in colour and texture.

About the artist:

Joris Kuipers is a visual artist who works and lives in Rotterdam (NL). Inspired by the cyclical exuberance of nature, he has developed a pictorial language that is both lavish and balanced. His reliefs, installations and sculptures move freely between art and design. Kuipers works both independently and on commission.

His clients include Marina Bay Sands Hotel (SG), Raffles at Galaxy Hotel (CN), Ritz Carlton Hotel (TC) and Royal Caribbean Cruises (US).

His work has been exhibited at numerous art fairs including Independent Hotel Show Amsterdam (NL), Masterly the Dutch in Milano (IT), Dutch Design Week (NL),               Masterly The Hague (NL), OBJECT Rotterdam (NL), Art Amsterdam (NL).
